Artist Statement

My work is a visual exploration of two racial entities (Indian and Zulu culture). This is based on my lived experience of being in an interracial relationship, which is still seen as a form of entanglement in contemporary South Africa. I explore themes such as love, progression of time, comfort, and connection.

This is achieved through documenting my physical interaction through the process of creating artefacts. I portray this through experimentation of process driven practical work of mixed media and weaving techniques. This is my way of documenting and visually expressing experiences of being in an interracial relationship. My work serves as a tribute to my relationship.
