Digifest 4 – Pre-release

Durban University of Technology’s DigiFest 4 takes place from 6 to 11 November when the University opens its doors to the public for a series of exhibitions, presentations, performances, live art, seminars, workshops and more.

Digifest provides a platform for creative and multimedia projects across disciplines and fields such as visual, sonic and performing arts and promotes a collaboration across art, science and technology. The festival provides a platform for Durban designers and techies as well as for student projects to be showcased.

This year’s theme, “glitch”, allows participants to engage, contest, celebrate and question the idea of malfunctions, technical mishaps and imperfections in systems. Curated projects will speak to both the purity of code and numbers but also about disruption and subversion of formats, spaces, places and technologies. It is about questioning and going beyond traditional notions of art in an interdisciplinary, multimedia world, where design and creativity merge and interact with science and technology broadly.

Digifest4 hosts a number of events throughout the week at DUT Campuses as well as other venues.
